I bought this chain mail byrnie for weekend medieval reenactment events, and it has been a great addition to my kit. I usually wear it over a padded gambeson, and the 56-inch chest gives me enough room to move without feeling too restricted. The 16 gauge rings have a nice weight to them, and I especially like the look of the round riveted construction when I’m wearing it with my helmet, belt, and shield. I’ve also used it for a couple of outdoor photoshoots, and it looks fantastic in pictures. It definitely feels more substantial than the lightweight costume mail I’ve used before, and I’m glad I went with this one.
