This helmet probably developed in Italy and was popular among infantry soldiers due to the visibility as well as nearly full head protection. It could have developed from the small skull cap worn under great helms and became very popular in the late 13th century.
The development to full visor had not occurred yet and would see the addition of a nasal guard later before the visored bascinet came into popularity. The Original of this battle-ready replica of a bassinet helmet without visor dates in the middle of the 14th century. This type of helmet evolved from the skull cap or cervelliere. Standard Adult Size fully wearable.
Specifications: Approx. Circumference: 24 inches Inclusions: Leather liner with chin strap Material : 14 Gauge Steel
Note: ** Please use Helmet cotton cap (inner) for comfortable wearing. Use Helmet Stand for the good protection of helmet. The Helmet comes pre oiled for protection from rust. Please use dry cloth to clean OR keep it under the Sun for a day for the excess oil to dry out.
Great open-face helmet for visibility! I prefer better peripheral vision during sparring, so this open-face bascinet is exactly what I needed. The 14-gauge steel feels indestructible and easily shrugs off heavy blows.
